Mac: the best tool for creativity

Apple has a reputation for being the “creative company”, with products that inspire, fuel and support creativity. Go into any creative agency or ask any photographer, art director or designer and chances are they’ll be using a Mac. We’ve even heard stories of designers being turned down for jobs if they don’t use a Mac, while others feel they won’t be taken seriously with anything other than a Mac.

Why is Mac so loved by creatives? Aside from their beautiful design (and let’s be honest, many people will buy something simply on looks alone), every Mac is full of advanced hardware and software, and built-in apps that help with creativity.

The built-in apps that creatives love are:

  • Photos: Photos lets you keep your growing library organised and accessible. Powerful and intuitive editing tools help you perfect your images as well as create beautiful gifts for sharing. And with iCloud Photo Library, a lifetime’s worth of photos and videos can be stored in the cloud — so you can access your entire collection from your Mac and iOS devices.
  • iMovie: Browse your clips easily, instantly share your favourite moments, and create cool trailers and beautiful movies at a stunning 4K resolution. You can even start editing on iPhone or iPad, and finish on a Mac.
  • Garageband: GarageBand lets you make great music. It has a large collection of amps and stompboxes, an extensive Sound Library of instruments and loops, and even a virtual session drummer that follows your lead.
  • Keynote: You can make creative and compelling presentations. There are themes to choose from, and you can add photos, interactive charts and cinematic transitions. Aside from built-in apps, you can also buy pro apps such as Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X, Motion 5, Compressor 4 and MainStage 3.
