What’s new in iOS?*

With iOS 9, your iPhone and iPad get more intelligent and proactive with powerful search and improved Siri features. Built-in apps become more powerful with an all-new News app, completely redesigned Notes app, and transit information in Maps. And you can be even more productive with new multitasking features designed specifically for iPad like Slide Over, Split View, and Picture in Picture.

Maps

Maps adds support for transit maps and schedules. When you plan your trip, Maps offers a combination of trains, subways, buses, and walking. And with the Nearby feature, it’s easy to see what’s around by searching for food, drinks, shopping, and more.

Notes

Notes is now even more powerful, letting you save important items to your notes, like a Safari link or an address from Maps. You can also draw a sketch with your finger, easily create checklists, and take photos directly in a note with the built-in camera.

Multitasking

With Multitasking, iPad supports Slide Over, so you can interact with a second app. A quick tap takes you to Split View so you have two apps side by side. And Picture in Picture lets you continue a FaceTime call or video while using other apps.

Search

Search queries that you type deliver more relevant results from more categories, including sports scores and schedules, stats from the Health app, and simple math calculations.

Foundation

iOS 9 features more responsive performance, easier software updates, better battery life with a new low-power mode, and enhanced security features that verify your Apple ID with your phone number so your data stored with Apple is safer than ever.
