Risks of unauthorised screen replacements. Here’s what you need to know.

Getting your screen repaired through a non-Apple Certified repair shop could potentially cause a few problems with your iPhone such as an inactive screen or lack of responsiveness.

- The brightness of your iPhone could be affected as the ambient light sensor might not work after an un-aurthorised repair.
- Touch ID could also be negatively affected by an un-aurthorised repair.

Which iPhone qualifies for a screen replacement? 

We can replace iPhone screens on the following models:

Can you replace my screen if I have had a third party screen previously placed?


Yes we can still offer a screen replacement, however if any other 3rd party parts are found (i.e battery, camera etc) the iPhone will not qualify for a screen repair.


If my phone is bent can you still replace my screen?

 A bent phone is likely to prevent a screen from fitting correctly there we will not be able to facilitate a screen repair. 


If my phone is dented can iStore still replace my screen?

Depending on the severity of the dents a screen repair might not be possible.

The easiest way to check this would be to place your phone on a flat surface and then to inspect  the dents.

After placing your phone on a flat service try and imagine a new display being placed on your phone, carefully looking for the dents that would prevent a new display from fitting into the contours of the dented phone.

Remember that should a dent change the contour-shape of the phone, then this will prevent a new screen from fitting correctly.


If the glass on the back of my phone is cracked as well as the screen what are my service options? 

We can either offer a whole unit replacement quote via our service centre to resolve both issues 

or we can facilitate the screen repair only meaning the back glass will not be repaired.

Note: Should you only want the screen replaced and the back glass is cracked then you need to be aware that there is a potential for the back glass to deteriorate further. 


What would happen if I have multiple issues on my iPhone? 

Providing the iPhone is a model that is serviceable in this region, a replacement unit will be quoted via the Apple service channel. 


Is the store quoted price subject to change?

The store quoted price if accepted is still subject to a final inspection at the Service Centre. If the screen repair is not possible as per the store quoted price, then the service centre will issue a new quote for a whole unit replacement phone - otherwise the repair will be facilitated as per the original store quote that was accepted.


Do I need to deactivate and remove “Find My iPhone” to obtain iPhone screen service? 


Yes you are required to disable Find My iPhone prior to obtaining service.

You can remove “Find My iPhone” by following the instructions below: 

On an iOS device: Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud (or Settings > iCloud), then turn off Find My [device].

Should your cracked screen prevent you from disabling “Find My iPhone” then you need to disable this via the iCloud website.


See instructions below: 

1.  Sign in to iCloud.com with your Apple ID.
2.  Go to Find My iPhone.
3.  Click All Devices at the top of the screen.
4.  Select the device that you want to remove from iCloud.
5.  If necessary, click Erase [device].
6.  Click Remove from Account.


Will I lose all my data when sending in my phone for screen service?

Yes - you are required to backup your iPhone prior to obtaining screen service as you will need to reset and erase your iPhone to factory settings prior to obtaining screen service.


You can reset your phone to factory settings by following the instructions below:

1.  To reset your iPhone go to Setting > General > Reset 
2.  Select Erase All Content and Settings 
3.  After typing your passcode (if you have set one) a warning box will appear with the option to Erase iPhone


How long does a screen repair take if I book it in? 

Normally if no additional issues are found at our service centre and the quote is accepted in store then the average repair takes 4 working days depending on demand.This is excluding weekends and public holidays.*
