iPhone X. A collection of how tos

iPhone X

We are loving iPhone X with amazing features such as FaceID and lets not forget Animoji - this phone is a combination of sleek deign and sophistication with a whole lot of fun.

If you are a proud and excited new owner of iPhone X keep reading for some nifty tips and tricks.

How to navigate your iPhone X without the Home button

You may initially feel a little stumped when it comes to finding your way around your iPhone X without the Home button that you’re so used to. The good news is that Apple has replaced the Home button with a variety of easy to learn, intuitive gestures.

Here are a few how to’s to get you going.

How to wake up your iPhone X

Just like before, all you need to do is pick up your iPhone to wake it up. The difference here is that when you raise to wake, it uses Face ID to unlock it.

How to get back to the Home screen

On all previous iPhones, you would press the Home button to get back to the Home screen. With your iPhone X, swiping up from the bottom of the screen gets you back to your Home screen.

To remind you, it’s the same gesture that you used on previous iPhones to open your Control Centre.

How to open the Control and Notification Centre

This is a really simple one. The two “ears” on either side of the notch are starting points for gestures. All you need to do is swipe down at the top of the screen to the right of the notch for Control Centre and to the left of the notch for Notification Centre.

How to view switch between apps

Multitasking is fun on an iPhone X. On previous iPhones you had to double tap the Home button to show all your open apps. On iPhone X, you just swipe up from the bottom of the screen and then pause to view apps.

To switch between apps you just move your thumb in an arc to the right and voila, you’re switching between apps quicker than you can think!

How to take a screenshot

Being able to take a screenshot on your iPhone is so super handy we bet you don’t know what you’d do without it. Instead of using the Home button and the side button simultaneously like on previous iPhones, on iPhone X all you need to do is squeeze the side button and the volume up button to do the same thing.

How to see the battery percentage

With the iconic edge to edge screen and the notch at the top of your iPhone X, there is less space for the handy menu bar of widgets that you used to be able to see. One of them is the Battery Percentage.

To see this you just have to pull down the screen from the top right corner to access Control Centre and you’ll see it there.

How to use Face ID

Setting up Face ID is really easy. Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode. Position your face in front of the true depth camera and click Get Started. Just follow the prompts from there.

Purchasing an app is really easy on iPhone X. All you need to do is tap on the price of the app. A sheet will appear with the apps details. You can either cancel but tapping the Cancel button or to continue with your purchase, double click the power button situated on the top right hand side of your iPhone X. Your iPhone will now use Face ID to complete the purchase and install the app.

Face ID is so intelligent that it learns how your face changes over time. You can even teach it to recognise you better! Next time it doesn’t recognise you, put your passcode in and Face ID will realise “Oh, that was you.”

So next time, it will be better at recognising you.
